Idaho BDR Section 3 (IDBDR) – Full day POV helmet cam video
Idaho BDR Section 3 (IDBDR) delivered exactly what makes adventure motorcycle travel so memorable: incredible scenery, unexpected challenges, and a few stories that only seem to happen when you are hundreds of miles from home.
The day started outside Lowman, Idaho, packing up from a roadside camping spot I had to find in the dark (see previous post) and would eventually end at Deadwood Reservoir – which was not my plan! An unexpected river crossing changed my day.
The detour made for a long day that felt a little frustrating at the time, but Deadwood Reservoir’s Cozy Campgrounds was one of my favorite camping spots. Nice scenery, so peaceful. A nice place to rest up and catch up. I wish I had taken more pictures there.
In an off-road adventure, changing routes is part of the plan. These are the unexpected experiences that become your journey. Adventure riding is not about conquering every obstacle. It’s about making good decisions so you can ride another day. Sometimes that means making a u-turn and embracing the detour.
This video follows my route across Idaho BDR Section 3, featuring beautiful mountain scenery, remote backcountry roads, and the moment I had to decide between pushing my luck or trusting my instincts.
IDBDR Section 3 from Lowman to Deadwood Reservoir features amazing trails, beautiful mountain scenery, and wilderness areas that bring you closer to nature. It’s also a reminder that it gets a little cold at night, and sometimes you need an extra Snickers bar.
If you’re planning to ride the Idaho BDR, this video captures the entire day, and offers a realistic look at one of the route’s challenges and why flexibility is an important part of any Backcountry Discovery Route adventure.
If you’re planning to ride the Idaho BDR, researching route conditions, or simply enjoy adventure motorcycle travel, this section is well worth adding to your list. As with any ride, always be prepared for a few surprises along the way.
